What is Small Business Saturday?
The time for family, holiday parties, turkey dinners and a day of football – the lead up to the holiday shopping season is once again upon us. Lots will venture out to the sales for Black Friday and some will wait for the deals to come up for Cyber Monday. But there is a lesser-known day known as #smallbusinesssaturday (also #smallbizsaturday), which has an overall goal to show support for small businesses. This holiday was started by American Express in 2010 and aims to get people to shop at small businesses, and local businesses.
Supporting Small Business since 1988
Way back in 1988, Sean started a side business selling promotional products for meetings and events. Within the last fifteen or so years, this company has grown beyond his wildest imagination. He still has his first sidekick Gary, and always will, and a whole group of employees that he treats like family. Working for a small business reminds us to support our local, small businesses whenever we can. There’s just something about that small business vibe.
Karyn loves to support a local flower stand to give our office some colorful cheer. Sean loves to shop in a local village full of one of a kind businesses and food shops. Ashley loves to support a local market for the majority of groceries and supports her sister in laws chocolate shop (anything for chocolate!), just to name a few of the ways we try and support as individuals outside of the office.
Thank you for supporting our small business!
We appreciate you sticking by us, and with us, over the last 29 years. We aim to be a small business you can trust on time and time again. We hope to continue making you laugh and making this one of the least stressful parts of the million and one things you have to do for an event. We hope you take the chance to shop small biz over the holiday season and remember to use #shopsmall to show off the hidden gems you find – it’s all about that word of mouth …errr …social.
Trust us to deliver!
PS – If you’re looking through the photo gallery, no we haven’t forgotten about Gary. Gary loves to be mysterious and mischevious but he is the one that’ll take all our group photos for us, so he’s there in spirit 🙂
